Our Interim Pastor is the Rev. Joe LaDu
I am sixty-eight years into my life, retired from full time ministry after forty years, having last served the Venice U.C.C. until October, 2002. From the summer of 2003 until the summer of 2005, I served St. Andrew U.C.C. in Sarasota as the Interim Pastor. I am married to Kathryn, who is a special education teacher at Riverview High School in Sarasota, and I am the father of a daughter and a son, who both have two sons, with ages ranging from seven to eleven.
During my retirement I resurrected my love of playing the trumpet after twenty-six years of not playing. I have a special interest in jazz and like to apply it to worship on occasion. I also enjoy golf which I play way too much and never seem to improve. But, as with life itself, the main thing is to keep swinging.
As for my background, I grew up in northeastern Ohio, received a B.A. degree from Muskingum College, and then my divinity degree from Chicago Theological Seminary. The churches I have served, before coming to Florida, were in western Colorado, south central Montana, south eastern Wisconsin, central Ohio, Delaware, Michigan, (where I served a Disciples of Christ church), and Massachusetts.
I am glad to be among you. You are very welcoming and I look forward with great anticipation of our time together in this interim period of your church life. May God bless us as we move into the future that calls us towards significant mission!
