You might consider referring someone:

Because of feeling of anxiety
Because of loss or death of a loved one
Because of communication problems in the family or at work
Because of loss of faith or spiritual and religious doubts
Because of seeking more in life
Because they want a deeper understanding of themselves
Because they want to deepen their recovery from alcohol or drugs
Because of physical illness and pain
Because of increased stress in their life
Because of relationship problems
Because of marriage conflict
Because of divorce

Encourage the person to make an initial appointment, even if it is only to discuss whether counseling would be valuable.
For marriage counseling, refer the husband and wife whenever possible.
This is not a crisis intervention service and is by appointment only.
